Tucson in Photos, Part 1

I had a truly glorious 3 days in Tucson!

The weather was amazing, I got to spent some time with my favorite Fitnessista and her Pilot who took Kristin and I to some of their favorite Tucson spots.

After a long and fairly bumpy flight, we met Gina and the Pilot at the patio of a local coffee shop, where they brought us an eegee's! I swear, these are the most amazing and magical slushie concoctions ever! Sweet watermelon puree in a soft drinkable slush could be the most perfect beverage EVER.

Kristin and I had a delicious breakfast in our resort's restaurant, and then headed straight to the pool for a day of relaxation. We drank mango juice, read, and pretty much did nothing.

We headed inside around 2 p.m. to shower and get ready for dinner because Gina and the Pilot were meeting us at their favorite place, Cafe Poca Cosa! I'd read about this place on Gina's blog a few times, and I was so eager to try it. Let's just say it didn't disappoint!

The decor was like something from my Spanish teacher dreams. There was authentic Mexican art all over the walls, deep colors, and a wall of tequila. Kristin and I dominated glasses of sangria and a basket of chips and salsa.

When Gina arrived, we were seated at our table, and the server came around with a drink menu and a very interesting explanation of the restaurant itself. She carried a chalkboard with the daily choices, and explained that the menu changed at least daily, sometimes more than once a day, depending on what is fresh at the market.

My Spanish definitely came in handy. I opted for a Plato Poca Cosa, which would feature 3 of the daily specials. What's cool though, is that other people at the table would get a different 3 items so that we could all try more food. Such a great idea!

My Plato arrived laden with shredded beef and peanuts, chicken with mole, and quite possibly the most phenomenal tamale pie I've ever had the pleasure of eating.

And just when I thought it couldn't get better, we ordered a dessert sampler. Three items were included: chocolate mousse, mojito cheesecake, and molten chocolate cake.

Yeah. Dominated that one too. I realized during this meal exactly how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends in the bloggy world. Gina is someone I never would've met, and I truly consider her a great friend. There wasn't a shortage of things to talk about, and it was fun explaining the crazy blog world to Kristin, who knows nothing about it!

After dinner, we went on an adventure to find our cars, and then headed to Downtown Tucson to hang out at a few local bars. Shenanigans ensued, including nonsense with phone apps, creepers looking at Gina's mocktail and baby bump in confusion, and men on stripper poles. We stayed up later than I'm used to (11:30!) and then headed back to the resort to rest up for the next day's events.

You'll have to wait until tomorrow for those photos...

But for now, the winner of Lizz's bottle cap necklace giveaway is.... Kim with comment #6! We'll have to work out delivery somehow 🙂

Have a wonderful Friday Harry Potter Day!
