Have you ever come across a deal at the grocery store that you just couldn’t turn down?
Sometimes, things are so expensive I can’t even imagine spending the $11.99 on a jar of almond butter, the $6 on a box of veggie burgers, or the $5 on a loaf of sprouted bread. But sometimes, the grocery store surprises me. After my debacle on Monday when my FIRST grocery excursion resulted in zero groceries, I happened upon a deal I couldn’t refuse.
Chicken breasts were BOGO. No matter what size. I got, for $10.33, over 10 pounds of bone-in, skin on split chicken breasts. TEN POUNDS! Five pounds went right into the freezer, and the other five pounds were set to be cooked tonight.
I went simple: I drizzled the chicken with olive oil, sprinkled with salt and some Penzey’s Bavarian seasoning. I roasted them first at 425 for 12 minutes, then lowered the oven to 350 and continued to cook them until done, about another 20 minutes. Then (my secret) is letting them sit for at least 10 minutes before even touching them. Two or three chicken breasts will be eaten tonight, and the rest that I cooked will be shredded and used in tomorrow’s dinner!
We’re running low on produce, so I used a bag of frozen broccoli to make some pan-roasted broccoli. I was expecting fabulous… instead I got freezer burned ick. Oh well, the chicken was great!

I pulled out bone in chicken breasts for dinner tonight, too. I haven’t had bone in chicken for years, but this was reduced at 50% for qiuck sale. With the cost of chicken these days, I stocked up!

great deal on the chicken!
I want you to come over and cook dinner for me sometime. Deal?
AWESOME deal on the chicken! I would have definitely gotten the same if I’d been faced with such a deal. Would have been perfect for the Chicken with Summer Melon-Nectarine Relish I made last night for PGEW. I think I should go on a hunt and see if I can find some chicken deals; I need to stock up.

Great deal. I have a problem with not passing up on deals at the grocery store. That is why my freezer is my best friend.
I love Penzey’s Greek seasoning. I’m going to have to try the Bavarian seasoning!
