Short But Sweet

It’s official.

I’m exhausted!

I started the day at about 5:10 a.m. when I awoke with a start for no apparent reason, and could not get back to sleep, even though I didn’t have to be awake until 6! I embraced it, got up, showered, and headed out to my first camp meeting of the summer. I gave a lesson to the counselors about how to take good pictures (of people, not food!) and then distributed this year’s camp t-shirt to all the counselors. You’ll see plenty of pictures of me in said camp shirt throughout the summer! The camp meeting was scheduled to go until 3 p.m. Lo and behold, we were done at 11 a.m.! A friend and I headed to Whole Foods for lunch (HUGE shout out to my hot bar lover, Miss GC!) and then I decided to treat myself to a manicure and some mild shopping.

Sorry for the lousy picture, but the light stinks right now… but in case you can’t tell, my nails have a pink sparkly tip on them! There’s actually pieces of seashell in the acrylic they used:

When I got home, Adam and I headed out for dinner at our favorite sushi place, Daruma (yes, I was out THAT long!) to meet with my friend Wendy who will be making our wedding invitations! No decisions were made other than that the color I’d originally thought was the right one for the invites is indeed, not right. Oh well, we’ll meet again in a few weeks!

We started with goma-ae, a steamed spinach salad with peanut sesame dressing in 2 colors.

I had decided before walking in that I would be getting sushi. I ordered a couple of favorites, and a couple that I hadn’t had in a while! Clockwise from top left: Caterpillar Roll with eel, egg, and avocado; Spicy Lobster roll with lobster, cucumber, spicy sauce and fish eggs; Jennifer Roll with egg, shrimp, and shiitake mushroom; Boston Roll with tuna and avocado.

And just because it’s so pretty, I took another picture of the Caterpillar Roll. It’s one of my favorites!

Adam ordered something new today: Nabeyaki Udon served in a hot pot. It was a beautiful soup full of noodles, fish cake, egg, shrimp, and seaweed:

We sat and chatted for a while, came home, and made the mistake of sitting down. Now, it’s obvious to me how tired I am! Did you all see my guest post on The Daily Balance today? I think it came out pretty well :)
I wanted to apologize in advance: as camp gets underway, I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to be commenting on all of your blogs. I’ll certainly be reading on my phone, but commenting is a bit hard! Just know: I AM reading!

Tomorrow is sure to be a busy day… but not to worry! The Sweet 16 of Cute Food Saturday will happen no matter what! There is some truly special stuff this week!
